Miss Carnivale 2012
This year, the format of Miss Carnivale will provide a wonderful opportunity for a young lady from our community to receive a head start on a future modeling career.
In 2012, the winner of Miss Carnivale will receive automatic entry into the Miss Teen Australia competition. This is the biggest pageant in the Southern Hemisphere, and Port Douglas Carnivale is delighted to be working with Platinum Model Management Australia as this year’s organisers of Miss Carnivale 2012 and Miss Teen Australia FNQ.
Miss Carnivale will also be an ambassador for our fabulous festival. As Miss Carnivale, you will represent the festival in media engagements in the lead up to and during the event, and will be featured in the Macrossan Street Parade, prize-givings, awards, events and launches. We are also seeking Miss Charity Carnivale 2012, who will be a support festival ambassador.
Miss Carnivale 2012 will be crowned at a function at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas on Friday 20th April 2012.
Entrant Requirements:
- We are searching for a role model, a person who embodies all that is wonderful about our great region and the community festival of Carnivale.
- You will be female and between 16-19 years of age – no older than 19 by 31st of December 2012 and no younger than 16.
- You will agree to the Terms & Conditions of the contest detailed fully below.
- You will need to be available to attend the crowning of Miss Carnivale 2012 on 20th April for other appearances during the festival period 18-27 May 2012.
- Charity fundraising is a part of entrants duties – you will have raffle tickets to sell and a Miss Charity Carnivale 2012 title will be awarded to the entrant who raises the most for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
- Entry fee of $80 per entrant is due with your entry and must be received by Platinum Model Management Australia for your entry to be accepted.

Prizewinners Receive:
- The winning Miss Carnivale entrant will receive entry into the Miss Teen Australia FNQ regional finals held in Cairns in July (valued at $125)
- Winner will also receive a 12 month modeling contract with Platinum Model Management Australia which includes catwalk and deportment lessons to the value of $300.
- The Miss Carnivale 2012 and Miss Charity Carnivale 2012 will also receive a host of prizes from our Miss Carnivale sponsoring businesses.
Note: The winner of Miss Carnivale 2012 must be available on the dates of the Miss Teen Australia FNQ regional finals, otherwise the runner-up of Miss Carnivale 2012 will become the entered winner. If for any reason the entrant chosen as Miss Carnivale 2012 cannot fulfill the conditions then the person chosen as Miss Carnivale 2012 Runner Up will be appointed to the Miss Teen Australia FNQ regional finals place.

Terms & Conditions for Miss Carnivale 2012 Entrants
SCHEDULE A
By providing your entrant details to us, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Entry fee of $80.00 per entrant is due with your entry and this is a non refundable fee.
- Charity fundraising is a part of entrants duties – The contestants will be expected to sell a minimum of five raffle booklets.
Applicants must:
a) live locally, be an Australian citizen or permanent resident for the past 6 months
b) hold a valid passport or be eligible to hold one
c) be a person who was born female
d) be a person who enjoys travelling, Be able to demonstrate a high standard in public speaking
e) be a person who has good communication skills and enjoy talking to people;
f) be a person of good character, possess charm, poise and personality and be fit and healthy
g) Have a strong commitment in the pursuit of excellence
h) Have a strong desire to represent your country and be an ambassador
2.1 Platinum Model Management Australia retains all rights to recording media used in respect of the contest in which you appear, including without limitation photographs and other recordings of your likeness, name…. and voice, belongs to Platinum Model Management absolutely and you assign any copyright you may have to us to give effect to this ownership; and may use your likeness, name and voice for no fee to promote the contest at any time in programs, in any media, in advertisements, promotions and publicity and for any other purpose (except for any purpose which is inconsistent with the image of Platinum Model Management Australia)
1.2 Platinum has the right to withdraw you from the contest at any stage on the grounds that you have committed a breach of any undertaking or warranty given on your part in this agreement or have committed an illegal or immoral act or have acted in a manner which is harmful to the image of the contest or which could in our view and at our sole discretion, bring you and/or the contest and/or Miss Carnivale title and Miss Carnivale or Platinum Model Management into disrepute; cancel, postpone or bring forward any provisional date for the contest or change the contest venue or change the manner in which the contest has traditionally been held due to reasons beyond our reasonable control; in the case of any dispute, withhold any award of the title or prize until any dispute is settled at which time, in our absolute discretion, we may award such title and/or prize to any other Runner-up or any other contestant in the event of any dispute following the election of Miss Carnivale;
1.3 Platinum and Miss Carnivale/Port Douglas Carnivale organising committee will not be liable under any circumstances for any loss or damage sustained by you as a result of or arising out of the exercise by us of any right or discretion or in respect of any act or decision made by us under this agreement that we decide (in our sole discretion) to be conducive to the successful running of the contest and we will not be liable to you for: your non-arrival or delayed arrival on the proposed date or changed date of the contest; illness, injury or other incapacity sustained by you up to and during the contest period; or loss of or damage to any of your possessions during the contest period.
1.4 If you are selected as Miss Carnivale or as a Runner-up and during the year of office either: commit a breach of this agreement or fail to carry out any of your contractual obligations (including the obligations set out commit an illegal or immoral act or conduct yourself in a manner which in our opinion is harmful to the image of the contest or which in our opinion brings or tends to bring you or the Miss Teen Australia, title or the contest into disrepute, ridicule or contempt, Miss Carnivale and Platinum Model Management may declare your title as Miss Carnivale or Runner-up (as the case may be) forfeits and upon such declaration you must immediately cease to use such title for all purposes whatsoever. Such forfeiture is without prejudice to any other rights that Miss Carnivale may have.
SCHEDULE B
Entrants must:
a) Not, without our prior written approval, participate in any other contests without Platinum’s prior approval (excluding the Miss Teen Australia) during the period commencing 60 days before and ending 60 days after the contest;
b) Arrive at the location of the contest venue by the date and time and at the place notified to you by Platinum Model Management, but if you arrive earlier or stay later you acknowledge that we will not be responsible for your security or upkeep for those periods;
c) have in your possession on arrival for the contest clothes adequate and suitable for travelling and for day-to-day wear at the contest venue for the contest period but we reserve the right in our absolute discretion to require you to wear the clothes provided by us for judging purposes;
d) conduct yourself appropriately and not commit any act of an illegal or immoral nature, any act which would bring discredit on yourself or be harmful to the image of the contest or any act that would bring the contest, Miss Carnivale and/or its title into disrepute throughout the contest period;
e) comply willingly at all times during the contest period with our directions advice and counsel as to your conduct and well-being;
g) participate in all rehearsals during the contest period
h) stay with the official party of contestants at all time during the contest period
i) permit Miss Carnivale and Platinum Model Management to take and/or use photographs and other material concerning you for the purposes of the contest and related publicity;
j) if requested, appear on any print, visual and audio media, television, advertising, internet or other coverage of the contest and related publicity;
l) not at any time commercially exploit or aid the commercial exploitation of your title. The judges will pay equal attention to each contestant’s aptitude for making the most of her abilities, and her attitude towards developing them. Although the judges will give equal importance in their markings to physical and other personal attributes and talent, it must be emphasized that these are not intelligence tests. The judges will be trying to assess each contestant’s determination to use whatever ability she may have to further either her own career, or help others to do b) You will be judged in personal interviews, the ability to answer a random question, a full-length evening dress, casual wear and in swimwear, which shall not carry any form of advertising, or emblem, which has not been approved in writing by us. You may not wear any other form of clothing unless agreed or requested by Miss Carnivale and Platinum Model Management who has absolute discretion in banning any clothing or beachwear considered being unsuitable for the Miss Teen Australia image, we reserve the right to substitute other leisurewear for beachwear, and other apparel for evening dress. We also reserve the right to require you to wear clothing provided by Miss Teen Australia.
