The Sheraton Mirage Pt.Douglas Art Prize is in it’s 3rd year. The art prize is a highlight of the Trinity Auto Reef and Rainforest Carnivale (which is the Tropical North’s annual 10 day festival held during May) and it is an opportunity for local and interstate artists to showcase their work, in an international setting.  The prize is open to all Australian, Pacific Islander and New Zealand residents.

Far North Queensland is a natural paradise providing inspiration for artists of all kinds; the event is designed to encourage the development of local expression in all visual mediums from painting to sculpture and photography using nature as a basis for inspiration.

The Sheraton Mirage Pt.Douglas Art Competition main prize is a $7000 acquisitive prize Sponsored by the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas.   The Art Prize has many other non acquisitive awards sponsored by local business's and Art patrons, ensuring an opportunity for many to be part of this event.

The artwork must depict a landscape of a natural setting, including topics depicting geological, zoological, underwater, seascape or forest settings including mythological and dreaming.

Entry forms are available from art supply stores in the region and on line at www.headsup-arts.com .

Entry into the competition allows artists free entry into the Masquerade Party however individual tickets to the party maybe purchased from www.tourismportdouglas.com.au and follow the links.
