Family Fun Galore At Carnivale 2021

This year’s Port Douglas Carnivale is electric and eclectic, bursting with fun things to do for all the family.

The calendar of events for the 10-day Party in Paradise has a range of family friendly outings and activities, many of them free.

Families can kick their Carnivale off with the Twilight Market at St Crispins Café, taking full advantage of the venue’s beautiful surroundings.

There will be lots of stalls along the pontoon and the lawn, a face painter and slot car racing for the young ones. Live music and a special menu at the fully licensed café add to the fun.

The Carnivale Twilight Market at St Crispins Café (St Crispin’s Avenue) on Thursday May 20 runs from 4pm to 8pm.

The next evening the whole gang can take in the Tropic and Exotic Street Parade brought to Carnivale by Property Shop Port Douglas & Mossman.

Food stalls and amusement rides help families make a real night of it. The Tropic & Exotic Street Parade in Macrossan Street on Friday May 21 starts at 4.30pm with the parade at 6.30pm and a fireworks display at 8.15pm.

Dogs’ Day Out is another not to miss event. There are stalls, treats and prizes for everything from cutest canine to which dog “twinsies” best with their owners in a look-alike contest.

Take along the family pooch or just stroll about enjoying all the pets and people having a ball at Jalunbu Park – it’s another free event and all proceeds going to Port Douglas’s proposed new Paws and Claws animal refuge.  Dogs’ Day Out is on Saturday May 22 at Jalunbu Park from 10am to 1pm.

The Family Beach Day has always been a favourite at Carnivale and this year a squadron of massive kites will add extra excitement. With a 27m crocodile and a 55metre snake included in Kites Queensland’s fly by, the whole family will be gob-smacked.

As well as the monster kite display, Family Beach Day includes performances from Dream State Entertainment, a sand sculpting contest with prizes from Quicksilver and salsa classes right on the beach from the Sabor Dance School. Family Beach Day is Saturday May 22 at Four Mile Beach from 9am to 3.30pm.
