PALATES OF PORT BRINGS TOGETHER A NIGHT UNDER THE STARS

Port Douglas, 13th May, 2014 –  Explore exquisite wines, matched to an eight-course degustation dinner under the stars in one of Port Douglas’ most iconic locations at this year’s Palates of Port on Friday, May 23.

Now in its fifth year, this ‘Bollywood’ themed event which is brought to you by Port Douglas Catering and Events, will transform the Sugar Wharf into a glamorous setting.

Event organiser Cameron Walton said it was time to brush off those saris as guests are transported to an opulent, Indian inspired Bollywood themed night.

“The Sugar Wharf will be dressed with colourful fabrics, string curtains, festoon lighting, fairy lights and lush colourful draping.

The restaurants involved this year include Salsa Bar & Grill, Nautilus, Zai Restaurant, Thala Beach Lodge, Bucci, Rasa Restaurant and Port Douglas Catering and Events.

“Palates of Port promises to be a magnificent dinner with fine food, themed entertainment, music and decorations,” Mr Walton added.

All courses will be designed to showcase the region’s local ingredients such as RASA’s seared yellow fin tuna with wakami salad and a tomato dashi, and Zai’s carpaccio of beef with blue swimmer crab louie salad, micro herbs, grissini and green herb oil.

Other courses include Port Douglas Catering & Events vegetable pakora topped with a spiced tiger prawn kachumber salad and Salsa’s mungalli creek yoghurt and cardamon pannacotta with saffron poached croella pair, Daintree chocolate and honeycomb confetti, which are just some of the examples.

Each restaurant will also match the wines for their course. Diners will also be treated to Bollywood dancing by Bodies in Motion with DJ Bart  providing the beats to kick on later.

Tickets are now available and are $189.50 per person. Bookings can be made through the Carnivale website booking system at www.carnivale.com.au. Dinner starts at 6pm.
