Step away from the Carnivale crowds and into the world of Far North Queensland’s finest craft beer and spirits. Brewed & Distilled: The Local Pour brings together Hemingway’s Head Brewer Lee Drummond and Devils Thumb Head Distiller Gabriele Pegoraro for an afternoon of tastings, stories, and the kind of local knowledge you can’t find anywhere else.
From 2pm to 5pm, Lee and Gabriele will be stationed at Hemingway’s pop-up tasting bar, ready to pour, chat, and share the stories behind every beer and spirit. This is your chance to meet the makers, ask the questions, and discover what makes FNQ craft so damn good.
GUIDED TASTING SESSIONS:
3pm – Devils Thumb Spirits with Gabriele Pegoraro
Grab a tasting paddle, your choice of gin or rum, and settle in for a 30-minute guided session with Devils Thumb’s Head Distiller. Gabriele will walk you through the botanicals, the process, and the passion behind every bottle.
4pm – Hemingway’s Beers with Lee Drummond
Pull up a pew, order a beer paddle, and let Hemingway’s Head Brewer Lee Drummond take you through the Core Range and seasonal releases. Expect brewing insights, beer stories, and a relaxed 20-minute session that’ll leave you thirsty for more.
After the sessions, both Lee and Gabriele will be on hand for questions, conversation, or just a good old-fashioned yarn. Whether you’re a beer nerd, a spirits enthusiast, or simply curious, this is your chance to go behind the scenes with the people who make Port Douglas taste so good.
Plus: Spot prizes throughout the afternoon, including Hemingway’s merch, mini bottles of Devils Thumb spirits, and beer to take home.
Walk-ins welcome. Tasting paddles available all afternoon. This is the Carnivale session for grown-ups who appreciate a good story as much as a good drink.
Entry: Free
Tasting paddles: Available for purchase
