This groundbreaking facility is dedicated to preserving coral biodiversity, offering visitors the chance to see live coral collections up close and learn about vital conservation efforts protecting the Great Barrier Reef.

See over 200 coral species up close, learn how we’re protecting them for future generations, and discover how you can be part of this groundbreaking conservation effort.

Following the success of the week of free tours we ran last year with support from Douglas Shire Council, we’re excited to be expanding the program this year to include:

  • 10 days of free guided tours for the public (Monday–Friday across two weeks)
  • A special guest speaker day on Saturday 23rd May, featuring a series of nature-based talks and workshops

Dates and times for free tours:

  • Monday 11 May – Friday 15 May, free 1 hr guided tour at 11:45am
  • Monday 18 May – Friday 22 May, free 1 hr guided tour at 11:45am.
  • 5 public talks/workshops on Saturday 23rd May, with the following time slots:

    • 10:00–11:00am Murry Hunt.
    Mud, Mangroves & Magic: Why These Ecosystems Deserve More Love
    An in depth, educational, and humorous look into why we need mangrove ecosystems and how we can keep an eye on the vital habitats.

    • 11:30am–12:30pm Rob Beaman
    Deep Great Barrier Reef marine life
    Curious about what marine life is like below scuba diving depths? This talk will show robotic underwater camera vision from the deep GBR and Coral Sea.

    Misunderstood Marvels of the Ocean
    From intelligent octopuses to misunderstood sharks, discover the hidden connections between ocean life and human survival, and why the greatest danger isn’t what’s in the water, but what happens if it disappears.
