Carnivale 2014 is over!
Almost every established event was fully booked and the new sell out events generated an excitement unsurpassed in recent years!!
We had record crowds in their thousands for the opening Macrossan Street Parade. The Family Beach Day drew one of the largest crowds ever assembled on Four Mile Beach to see the inaugural Yabusame (Horse Archery) Tournament. The Backyard Games consolidated itself as a must do for 2015 complete with the Carnivale Grand Prix raced on 49cc motorised ‘eskys’ and the Port Village Shopping Centre Street Art and Music Festival drew great crowds who were entertained throughout the week by over 20 live performers. The fashion show, modele 14 was a catwalk sensation. The top line international comedy shows were outstanding. The foodie weekend surpassed all expectations presenting a series of culinary experiences to our tourist visitors that led celebrity guest chef, Colin Fassnidge, to comment that this festival is on the cusp of greatness!
The ten day festival had its biggest calendar of events ever but surpassed even this accolade when huge crowds gathered at the Reef Marina to reluctantly wave goodbye to Carnivale 2014 at this traditional closing event. With bands and family fun fair included this year plus a massive firework display it was an event that just didn’t want to end.
But don’t take my word for it, check out our gallery of images and see for yourself just how much fun everyone had over this ten full days of parties and entertainment. Carnivale 2014 was truly a celebration of the new Douglas Shire, its environment, its lifestyle and its community!
It should be noted that all these amazing events are only made possible by the support of the sponsors. This year we were thrilled to have so many major, local and regional sponsors who came to the party with both in-kind support and cash. I would like to say on behalf of the organisers and visitors a massive thank all the sponsors, you are all stars!! (check out the sponsors header tag above to see who they all were).
So if you don’t want to miss out for next year, get your bookings in early from 22nd to the 31st May 2015. Keep checking this website because we will be updating accommodation offers, early bird promotions and bringing the event information to you as early as possible.
We look forward to seeing you all in 2015 when we promise we’ll do it all again!
